Q:

I noticed driving events (cornering, braking, acceleration) on my scorecard.  What triggers these events?

A:

The telematics device has an accelerometer inside the device. When this accelerometer detects a .3gForce movement forward, backward, or to the side, it triggers a driving event. Depending on the direction of the force, it will register as a "Brake", "Acceleration", or "Corner".

When working with a driver that has frequent driving events, you want to sit down with them, contact the Idealease Business Intelligence contact who provided the scorecard for an activity report for that vehicle. The activity report will provide the location and data on where the event happened, along with the speed in which it occurred, which is especially helpful when reviewing these driving events.
