Q:

Fuel prices are finally dropping, is there any need to continue to focus on improving driver behavior?

A:

While the price of diesel fuel has now decreased seven weeks in a row, ELEVATE® is designed to optimize a fleet’s performance in many areas, regardless of fuel prices.

Areas of focus include fuel economy, efficiency, safety, carbon emissions reduction and much more. At the beginning of 2023, the average U.S. diesel price went from $4.58 to $4.19 (as of March 20th) per gallon. While fuel prices are out of our hands, we do have the option of improving other areas that can alleviate some of the burden.

While any drop in fuel price is significant, the real win is when your fleet average goes from 7 miles per gallon to 8. With a fleet running 1 million miles per year and fuel prices at $4.19/gallon, there’s a massive opportunity of saving of over $74,000!

we can’t always predict when prices will increase or decrease. Managing what you can control is always beneficial and can help minimize the effect of fuel prices.
