Q:

I was counseling my driver on corner events, and we found a couple events that appear to have happened on a straight road. Is the CyntrX device malfunctioning?

A:

A malfunctioning device in this case is unlikely. The event trigger is an accelerometer in the device. As the event trigger, or accelerometer, is simply triggered by physical movement, it is safe to say that movement did occur.

More likely, this was a result of distracted driving where the driver made a correction maneuver that caused the associated side .3gForce required to trigger the event. These types of events are unlikely to be admitted by a driver in counseling unless there is other evidence, such as in-cab camera footage to help validate.

The goal is communication and improvement. Once you have the discussion, chances are the driver will become more aware and improve upon these habits.
